“Youth With A Mission (YWAM)

encompasses thousands of people and hundreds of ministries in almost every country of the world. In every case, our passion is to know God and to make Him known.

We are a mixture of people from all over the world, from 149 countries in fact. In many of our locations, people from a wide variety of nations serve side by side. We come from numerous different Christian denominations and speak hundreds of languages. Nearly half of our staff come from "non-western" countries, such as Brazil, Korea, Indonesia, India and Nepal.

In addition to our full-time staff, many YWAM locations host short-term outreach teams made up of individuals, youth groups, families and churches who get to participate first-hand in "making God known" through both words and actions. We send out over 25,000 short-term missionaries each year.

Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) aim to prepare messengers of the gospel, helping students to know God in depth. The goal is to form Christian character and establish Biblical relationships while developing a daily walk with God. This intensive Christian training course begins with an 11 or 12 week classroom phase followed by a typically 12 week outreach.

The DTS is designed to encourage students to develop in personal character, to cultivate a living relationship with God, and to identify their unique individual gifts and callings in God. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are special emphases throughout these courses, preparing the students to reach current and future generations and answer the call to "Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations" Matthew 28:19.”

I have been volunteering full time with Avanti Ministries since November 2006. Initially as the Office Administrator at the office in Southend where I work with Tony, Elizabeth, Sarah and Jamie, it soon became apparent that my job description was about to change.

As most of you know I am an Evangelist, and over the last 4 years I had been working on the estate in which I lived, and joining in with local outreach events to help spread the gospel through our local neighbourhood. After joining Avanti Ministries it became apparent that it was God’s plan for me to continue speaking and sharing the gospel, except this time it was personal and public.

With the help and encouragement from the team at Avanti Ministries (Tony constantly rehearsing the gospel presentation with me, Sara coming with me and Elizabeth helping me figure out what to wear) I accepted a booking to speak. On the 3rd of March I first gave my complete testimony at a women’s breakfast in Ashingdon. On previous occasions where I had been booked to speak or to lead a service I had only added a bit about myself on the end of the service if it related to the subject. This time the Lord really encouraged me to be bold and tell all. Both Richard and my mother came with me and were a great support. On that occasion 4 women became Christians and several others made recommitments and asked the Lord to help them in areas within which they were having difficulties.

Since then I have been extremely blessed to be able to share my testimony in many different settings from school visits to church outreach services and various women’s group settings, each time people have responded to the Lord and I have also seen women start to look into those pains and hurts from the past with the help of God.

While I still volunteer at the office I now also accept bookings to speak and share the Gospel.”
